Our Spirituality

A Carmelite follows her Beloved into the desert to share his life of union with the Father. Each Carmelite day revolves around the Eucharist and the Liturgy of the Hours, and includes two hours of silent, contemplative prayer, one in the early morning, and other in the late afternoon. Through this life of prayer with her Lord, the Nun embraces the whole world with “its joys and sorrow, its problems and fears”. (Vatican II) 

Silence and solitude foster the prayerful atmosphere so typical of Carmel. Enclosure ensures this climate of recollection. Our separation “from the world for the sake of the world” is an eloquent symbol of our radical commitment to a life of unceasing prayer and intercession.
